It’s about creating a space where the patient feels empowered to speak for themselves, even if their spouse is hovering like a protective hawk. And let's not forget the delicate balance when cognitive difficulties are at play – in those moments, a spouse's gentle assistance can be incredibly valuable. But for the vast majority, it’s about reminding everyone involved that while love might be blind, an optometrist needs a clear view of the individual.
