Two systems, one patient, one afternoon

The exam finishes in one place and the money happens in another. Someone reads a
total off a screen and types it into a terminal. Someone else, later, matches the
batch against the day.

It works. It works the way a workaround works — reliably, at a cost you stopped
noticing, until the month it does not reconcile and you spend a Thursday evening
finding out why.

The gap between those two systems is where optometry loses money. Not dramatically.
A copay keyed as 2500 instead of 25.00. A refund that never made it back to the
ledger. A card run twice because nobody could see the first one had gone through.

One flow, end to end

Put it on a plan and it stops being a person's job. The charges run, the ledger
reflects them, and the conversation with the parent in week seven is about their
child's progress rather than about an invoice.
